Mr. Holthaus's 8th Grade Social Studies class has been studying Western Expansion. Today they presented their findings to the class.

In Mrs Holthaus's class we have been learning about Sonar and how scientists see what is at the bottom of the sea floor. On Friday the 13th we did a lab about sonar findings. We molded clay into a fun shape and then covered it with a box. We used a skewer to feel what was at the bottom of the box. We then had to graph what we thought the shape, length, and height the sea floor would be. We learned scientists could not use a high-tech camera or go down in a scuba tank. They have to use tools and go over the objects under the sea multiple times to find what it is. It helped us understand what scientists must do to find what they are looking for under the sea.

Good day to everyone.
I wanted to take this time to recognize our K-6 program for being ranked 81st in the USNews Best Elementary School rankings. According to the numbers our K-6 was ranked in the top 12% in the State of Kansas. Below is a link to the article that includes links. Our entire staff works extremely hard at educating our youth, but recognition such as this can only be attained with the help of the entire panther family. Thank you teachers, parents, and community for being engaged in the education of the students of Centralia Schools.
